To rid our clients of the plastic look of laminated doors, a soft, marshmallow-cream paint over maple was utilized with striking results. Incorporating a 48” round dining table with island, centered directly on the range and hood resulted in a balanced and pleasing aesthetic result that left our clients in awe and appreciation, not to mention, the table challenge was successfully achieved. In fact, they love the table/island combination so much they express their gratitude every time we meet, as we are now working on their upstairs master bath.
The white tile/grout countertops were replaced with a gorgeous, seamless, Mojave-colored quartzite perimeter, coupled with white quartzite island – a perfect combination. Warm, golden-colored, crackled-ceramic, subway tiles were used for the backsplash. In addition, the ceramic tile was strategically placed behind the hood, to the ceiling, in order to break the run of cabinetry, resulting in a unique visual focal point. Rich, hardwood, planked flooring and cherry-wood island cabinetry added significant contrast to our marshmallow cream cabinetry and white quartzite countertops. A steel grid support was used to support the 600-pound plus table.
Sustainable, LED under cabinet lights were added to enhance functionality of the workspace and to beautify the counter and splash areas in the twilight and evening hours. This water challenged disaster was transformed into a stunning kitchen which met and exceeded all my clients expectations.
